Bernice Louise (Hamerlinck) Kloos, born on December 7, 1932, in Burton Township, Yellow Medicine County, to Henry and Sadie (Koltze) Hamerlinck, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring, MN, with her loving husband by her side.

Bernice attended St. Edward Catholic School and later graduated from Minneota High School. She embarked on a lifelong journey of love and commitment when she married Myron J. Kloos, her best friend, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota, MN. Their marriage spanned an impressive 68 years, filled with adventure, joy, and cherished memories.

Bernice established a legacy of love and family. In addition to being a devoted wife to Myron, Bernice was a mother who demonstrated unconditional love for her children and who was a fierce advocate for each of her children and their families. Bernice always seemed to know the right thing to say and, when asked, had sage advice for her children and their partners, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She advised family members to live life to the fullest and to: “Follow your dreams, be kind, and respect others. Be happy!”

Bernice was also a prayer warrior and there was never a time when her family couldn’t count on Bernice's avid prayers. Her Rosary was never far from her hands and there were countless times when Bernice would be praying on behalf of family and friends. We know her prayers will continue from Heaven.

In addition to her other talents, Bernice always made favorite baked goods for gatherings, prepared wonderful home-cooked meals, and hand-stitched personalized dish towels for bridal showers. Bernice never forgot what made family and friends feel special and she took great care to provide those things. Fourth-of-July and holiday gatherings, graduations, weddings, reunions, and other celebratory events and trips with family and friends were all special times when you could count on Bernice to help, support, and share stories and laughter. Bernice created memories that will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing in her life and the love she generously bestowed upon them.

Bernice is survived by her devoted husband, Myron Kloos of Cold Spring, MN, and their loving children: Douglas (Annette) Kloos of Owatonna, MN, Kevin (Peggy R) Kloos of Elk River, MN, Keith (friend Paula Petersen) of Cold Spring, MN, Jeffrey (Pam) Kloos of Fargo, ND, Denise (Mark) Pfeifer of Walla Walla, WA, Gary (Lori) Kloos of Richmond, MN, John (Peggy J) Kloos of Albany, MN, Alan (friend Renae Bathke) of Northfield, MN, Darcie (Joe) Schultz of Rochester, MN, and Steve (friend Amy Bourne Swenning) of Lafayette, CO.

Bernice is also survived by her 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the warmth and love she brought to her family. She is further remembered by her siblings: Robert (Marie) Hamerlinck, Lucille De Sutter, Kathy Boogaard, Barbara Drietz, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sadie Hamerlinck, as well as sisters Margaret and Raymond Kimpe, Mary Ann and Lawrence Stienessen, Agnes and John Coudron, and in-laws George De Sutter, Ed Boogaard, and Florian Drietz.

Bernice, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, will be remembered not only for her deep love for her family, but also for being smart, sassy, fun, warm, creative, and kind. She will be missed.
