Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Rita M. Stuckel, age 100, who died Saturday at the Sterling Park Health Care Center.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., Friday in the church narthex.

Rita was born in Grey Eagle, MN to Joseph and Katherine Woebkenberg. She married Raymond Stuckel on June 16, 1941 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Grey Eagle, MN and were blessed with 3 Children.  Rita and Ray moved to Cold Spring in 1945.  She was a teacher and taught in several schools in the area, including St. Nicholas, Rockville, and Cold Spring. Rita placed a high value on education, obtaining her bachelor’s degree at the age of 55 and a master’s degree at the age of 58. She enjoyed music, dancing, reading, crossword puzzles, bingo, and playing cards (especially Hand and Foot, and Bridge). Most of all, Rita enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rita was an avid world traveler. Her most memorable trips were to the Holy Land, and as part of the We Share Program to India, where she helped build homes and helped support young men through the seminary. Rita will forever be remembered for her unselfish giving and her love of children.  She was a member of the St. Boniface Christian Women, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary of Cold Spring, Retired Educators of Minnesota, and Serra Club of St. Cloud. 
Survivors include her children, Roma Steil, Terri (Jerry) VanDiver; sisters, Loretta Schmidt, Marie Rohling, Kaye Klein; 7 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Joseph; brothers and sisters, Leona Frank, Joseph Woebkenberg, Fred Woebkenberg; in-laws, Hubert Schmidt, Shirley Woebkenberg, Gerald Donovan, Al Frank, Othmar Rohling, and Donald Klein.
