March 16, 1939 – June 15, 2017
A Memorial Service will begin at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond, MN for Robert H. “Bob” Jones, age 78, who died June 15, 2017 at home after a long battle with cancer. Inurnment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery in Pope County, MN at a later date.
A gathering of relatives and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.
Robert was born in Starbuck, MN to Henry and Tiny (Tornquist) Jones. He was raised in Glenwood, MN and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1957. In 1959 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon Completing his service, he returned to the States and enrolled at the Northwest School of Drafting in St. Louis Park, MN. Upon graduation, he worked as a draftsman for Autocon Industries in St. Paul, MN which later became Control Data Corporation. He was blessed with three children with his first wife, Judy Knetel. In 1985 he married Karen (Thomas) and they spent many years in Crystal, MN. Upon his retirement in 2001, they moved to their cabin in Richmond, MN. Bob loved hunting and fishing with his son, Brian. He also enjoyed classic country music, was an avid Golden Gopher fan and appreciated all MN sports.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Karen; children, Tana (Jeff) Robasse of Delano, MN, Kimberly (Jerry) Lambert of Georgia, Brian Jones (Tasha) of Watkins, MN; step-daughters Lori (Gary) Roubinek of Crosby, MN, Lisa (Gordon) Hendrickson of Bloomington, MN; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Cory Ilene.
