Henry Schlick was born on the family farm just southeast of St. Martin on December 23, 1917, to Mike and Catherine Schlick. After completing grade school, he attended the University of Minnesota Farm School for three winters and then returned to the family farm where he farmed until his retirement. He was a very good and successful farmer and dairyman -- he was always gentle with his cows. He was known for his dedication to his family and his community. He is remembered as the person who had time to help with a project, repair a toy, or teach the children how to use a tool or learn a new skill. He was a lifetime member of the St. Martin parish. Henry actively participated in Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph's Society, Catholic United Financial, and was a 30-year member of the St. Martin Lions, holding several offices over the years. He was an officer in the St. Martin Credit Union and was a director of the Paynesville and Zion Mutual Insurance Co. for 26 years. He volunteered for many community projects during his retirement years. He enjoyed bowling and was active in two leagues. He was a baseball fan and followed the St. Martin Martins and the Minnesota Twins.

Henry married Ada T. Schlick on December 23, 1974. In 1981 they retired from the farm and moved to St. Martin. During their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling together, visiting casinos, fishing with their grandchildren, and family events. In early retirement, Henry went to the farm to help Joe, played cards at the Silver Spur, learned to bake cookies, and tended a large garden.

Henry is survived by his four stepchildren: Jim (Sharon) of St. Cloud; Joe (Mary Jo) of St. Martin; John (Loretta) of Willmar; and Anne (Gary) Lauer of Hugo, MN. In addition, he is survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin, in May, 1971, and by his wife, Ada, in December, 2008.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Koronis Manor who treated Henry like family for the past 11 years.

His love of Latin America and Graphic Arts led them to live in Mexico and Venezuela.  His work took him to every country in Central and South America.  He was well respected by his colleagues on that continent including the major newspapers.

Upon returning to the United States they lived in the Chicago area and many years in Westchester and Orange counties in New York where they renovated a number of beautiful pre-revolutionary war homes.

After a long battle with cancer, Kris Elene (Kuebelbeck) Johannes died on February 10th, 2015 at her home in Rockville, surrounded by family.  She leaves behind her loving husband, Glenn Johannes, of Cold Spring; son and daughters, Ryan (Robin) of Berkeley, CA, Jenny of Rockville, and Melissa (Tom) of Waite Park; grandchildren, Tanner, Rhiannon, Griffin, and her beloved pets, Pepper the dog, and Charlie the cat.  Sisters, Gail Koppy, JoAnne Parry, Lois (John) Coleman, Barb (Jeff) Konsor, Laurie Nixon and Greta Able; Brothers, Lou (Patti) Kuebelbeck, Steven (Pat) Kuebelbeck, Jeff (Trish) Kuebelbeck, Karl Kuebelbeck and Bill Kuebelbeck.  Her parents preceded her in death.

Kris was born on February 5, 1955 at the St. Cloud Hospital.  She was born to Louis and Delores (Reber) Kuebelbeck.  She graduated from Rocori High School in 1973.

Kris loved living on the farm.  A ‘green thumb’ who loved to be in the dirt every moment she could get.  Her love of nature and God's creatures showed through with the tender care of all of her birds and animals over the years.  Some of the most satisfying moments were good times with friends on the lake, or just relaxing in the peace and quiet of the country surroundings.  Something people may not know about her was her passion and skill for the arts.  Whether it was drawing, pottery, calligraphy, embroidery, or so many other artistic outlets with kids projects and holiday decorations. She had an eye for beauty in so many things; it will surely be a gift she will pursue in heaven.  A loving and supportive mother, who will leave a legacy with the people she's touched during her time here on earth.  She will forever be remembered as someone who embraced the simple pleasures in life.  We will love her always.

Kris requested to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at River of Life Assembly of God Church in Cold Spring. It will take place on February 21, 2015 at 11am; all are welcome. The family would especially like to thank Kris's guardian angel and sister, Laurie Nixon, for her excellent work and loving care for Kris over the past several months. Thank you to St. Cloud Hospice Care who was integral in keeping Kris comfortable until she passed. We would also like to thank all family and friends for such loving support. Between visits, meals, laughs, flowers, birthday cake and lasting memories, she made it to her 60th birthday just in time to meet The Lord and be at peace.
